A 17-year-old Mexican YouTube star was publicly shot and killed in a bar after insulting a powerful drug lord in one of his videos, The Washington Post reported.
Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales — known to his fans as “El Pirata de Culiacán,” or “The Pirate of Culiacán” — was a YouTube star who had more than a million followers on Facebook and more than 300,000 on Instagram for his videos, in which he would chug beer and whiskey to the point of intoxication despite being under Mexico’s legal drinking age of 18.
He became so famous that he began garnering cameos in music videos and at promotional events, The Washington Post reported.
In one recent boozy video, Lagunas insulted Nemesio Ocegera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” one of Mexico’s more notorious drug lords.
“El Mencho a mí me pela la verga” said Lagunas in the video, which loosely means “suck my c*ck.”

This week, police released the 911 transcript of a pregnant Minnesota woman who shot and killed her boyfriend in a YouTube prank gone south, People reports.
Monalisa Perez, 19, and her husband Pedro Ruiz II, 22, planned to stop a bullet with a thick encyclopedia, which Ruiz held in front of his chest while Perez fired a gun, she later told police. But during the late June shoot, the bullet pieced the encyclopedia neatly, resulting in Ruiz getting shot.
After he dropped to the ground, Perez ran into her house and plugged in her smartphone, which was low on power, to call 911.
“We were doing a YouTube video, and it went wrong,” she said, initially telling the dispatcher that she had also been shot.

Jones, who has more than half a million subscribers on YouTube, had previously come under fire for asking two 14-year-old girls to “twerk” for him.
Jones talked with one victim in August 2016 and another in May 2017, a criminal complaint filed on Monday said. In one chat from last month, Jones allegedly said that he had a “tryout” for this young teen that involved her dancing with her buttocks to the camera.
When the victim sent Jones the video, he followed up by sending her specific notes about how to reshoot the tape, including saying out loud that she was 14 and positioning
