An 11-year-old Florida girl was killed by an Amtrak train on Wednesday while she was crossing the tracks, Fox News reported.
Yazmin White was walking home from a convenience store and trying to cross over the railroad tracks in Haines City, investigators said, when the conductor on the approaching train saw her.
The conductor blew the horn and began braking the train, but Yazmin apparently did not notice the train approaching, according to Polk County detectives.
“He continuously blew the horn for about a quarter of a mile, all the while he’s trying to stop the train,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said to Fox 13 News. This gave Yazmin less than 30 seconds to respond, investigators said.
The conductor said she was looking down at her phone, and evidence from after the crash showed that she was wearing headphones at the time, detectives said.

According to the indictment against a father who is accused of killing his son, compromising photos may have led to the murder. Almost five years after 13-year-old Dylan Redwine vanished while on a court-ordered visit with his dad in Colorado, Mark Redwine was charged with murder on Saturday. Dylan’s brother Corey has been suspicious of his father all along.
“I have seen the photos,” Corey told ABC Denver. “It shows him wearing women’s clothes and makeup and a diaper and then eating his feces from the diaper. It was disgusting. We couldn’t believe it.”
The indictment states that throughout 2012, Dylan felt uncomfortable being with his father and that earlier that year he saw the disturbing photographs. After breaking into Drake’s home, a young woman stole beverages and wore his hoodie — you know, just normal fan stuff.
According to TMZ, the incident took place while Drake wasn’t home, on the night of April 3. A member of the rapper’s crew walked into Drake’s Los Angeles home only to find a 24-year-old female fan hanging out in his bedroom, wearing one of Drake’s hoodies. It’s still unclear how she even gained entry to the home or how long she was there before Drake’s friend happened upon her. Even more baffling is that there were no signs of forced entry.
After the cops arrived, the woman claimed she had permission to be there, but confessed to stealing “Pepsi, Sprite, and Fiji water.” She was later arrested and charged with felony burglary.
