Just hours before a mother and two children were shot dead in Phoenix, Arizona on Christmas, the estranged husband and father posted a jovial video to Facebook. In that video, Anthony Milan Ross’ 11-year-old son Nigel was smiling and singing.
Nigel, his 10-month-old sister Anora and his mother Iris, 38, are now dead. Ross, a 45-year-old vegan chef, best-selling author and motivational speaker is accused of killing them, Fox News reported. He is being held without bail, and it is unclear at this time if he has an attorney.
According to a court document obtained by AZCentral, witnesses watched Ross shoot Iris as she was running away from him. After shooting her, he allegedly returned to his apartment. Witnesses heard two or three additional gunshots after that, coming from inside Ross’ home. A former New York City vegan restaurant owner was sent to jail on Wednesday for over three months after confessing to stealing from investors and not paying 84 employees.
Sarma Melngailis, 44, and with her estranged husband Anthony Strangis, pleaded guilty to the crimes at her businesses Pure Food Wine in Chelsea and One Lucky Duck juice bar in Gramercy, according to the New York Daily News.
As a condition of her guilty plea, Melngailis only had to admit to stealing over $200,000 from one investor. In total, she is accused of stealing $844,000 from four investors.
Strangis was sentenced to time served after spending a year on Rikers Island. Melngailis was sentenced to three and a half months on Rikers Island.
