Oxygen Media, the network for high-quality crime programming, is expanding its development slate with four new buzzworthy projects.  New series in development include “Up and Vanished,” based on the wildly popular podcast by the same name from Payne Lindsey, “Buzzfeed: Behind the Crime” following true-crime devotee Kelsey Darragh as she investigates unsolved mysteries, “License to Kill” with Dr. Terry Dubrow (“Botched”) examining cases of doctors who have gone over the edge and “Unhinged, hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Troy Roberts and Emmy nominated reporter Stephanie Bauer as they immerse themselves into the nation’s most twisted and suspenseful cases.

Crime-themed cable network Oxygen is expanding its development slate with four new projects including Up And Vanished (working title), based on Payne Lindsey’s popular podcast from Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens’ Propagate Entertainment.

Also set are Shed Media’s License to Kill (wt) with Botched plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow examining cases of doctors who have gone over the edge; Buzzfeed: Behind the Crime (wt), an investigative series that probes unsolved mysteries kept alive by the Internet; and true-crime series Unhinged (wt), hosted by Emmy-winning journalist Troy Roberts and Emmy-nominated reporter Stephanie Bauer, which tackles the nation’s most twisted and suspenseful cases, from Peacock Productions.

Oxygen Media completed its transformation into a crime-themed cable network last summer when it was officially rebranded as a crime destination network for women for with an all-crime programming slate.

Oxygen expands crime slate; Ice-T, Nancy Grace feature in new series

NBCUniversal owned-Oxygen Media has upped its slate of crime programming, following  an announcement in early 2017 that  it would be focusing its content to become a crime destination network for women.

Its slate includes the greenlighting of eight new series, two new series in development, and the acquisition of Dateline: Secrets Uncovered.

“This new slate has a great mix of high stakes real time crime investigation and innovative formats that allows viewers to stay engaged from beginning to end with immersive storytelling,” said Aissa, “It’s a real differentiator in our programming, and we’re thrilled to be working with some of the sharpest talent and producers in the genre,” said Rod Aissa, EVP, original programming and development, Oxygen Media (pictured).

What Happened to…Jessica Chambers? (working title)
Produced by Wilshire Studios and BuzzFeed Motion Pictures with Joe Berlinger and Matthew Henickserving as Executive Producer.
This active crime investigation docu-series takes a deep dive into the mysterious death of Jessica Chambers, the Mississippi teen who was doused with gasoline and set on fire in December of 2014. The series is inspired by the investigative journalism of BuzzFeed News’ Senior National Reporter Katie J.M. Baker, who reported Chambers’ story, uncovering developments and helping raise awareness about the case. Executive Produced by Academy Award® nominated, two-time Emmy® and Peabody Award winner Joe Berlinger (“Brother’s Keeper,” the “Paradise Lost Trilogy” and “Intent to Destroy”), the series looks at the mystery and unanswered questions surrounding Chambers’ death, which has made it one of the most-talked about cases on the internet. In 2016, a grand jury indicted Quinton Tellis, 27, charging him with capital murder.

Oxygen Teams With Dick Wolf, Nancy Grace, Ice-T for Crime-Centered Slate

Oxygen is moving full speed ahead with its crime-focused rebranding.

The NBCUniversal cable channel on Thursday unveiled its first upfront slate for its upcoming programming shift, which includes new projects from Law Order creator Dick Wolf, longtime cable news star Nancy Grace and Law Order: SVU star Ice-T, among others.

Overall, the network unveiled eight series, including Wolf’s Criminal Confessions, which goes inside actual police interrogation rooms and dissects what happens to yield a confession. The docuseries joins the revival of Cold Justice, which also hails from Wolf Reality and was ordered to series in February when Oxygen made their rebranding official.

Oxygen is also teaming with one of Wolf’s longtime stars, Law and Order: SVU‘s Ice-T, for the series Ice Cold Murders (working title), which he will host and executive produce.

Oxygen Expands Programming Slate with Four New Original Series

Oxygen Media is giving the greenlight to four new original series; it was announced today by Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. New shows include the millennial focused competition series “Last Squad Standing” and “The Battle of the Ex Besties,” which test how far young women will go to protect their friendships. In addition, “Unprotected” is a docu-comedy featuring a family raising 2 teenagers under very different conditions – in and out of the witness protection program. And as part of its “Crime Time” line-up – Oxygen’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday true-crime programming block – the network adds “Three Days to Live,” chronicling the critical 72 HOURS after someone is abducted.
