Happy New Year! Here are 41 reality shows debuting this week

Happy New Year! It’s Jan. 1, and though it doesn’t seem like a Monday—I will probably not know what day it is all week—it’s the start of a new year, a new week, and many, many reality TV shows.

I count 41: Yes, almost two days worth of reality, unscripted, and documentary series debut episodes in just one week.

The final weeks of December are among my favorite not just because of the holidays, but because television, and the television industry, take their only annual break. I love that respite from new episodes or shows. It allows me to do other things, like organize cabinets while I watch marathons of old favorites (The Twilight Zone, The Golden Girls).

I wouldn’t mind this hiatus lasting a few more weeks. But like 2017, it’s over. There’s a lot on the way this week, beginning with The Bachelor tonight. (If you need a refresher on Bachelor tropes,

Former Hugo Boss Model Sentenced For Murdering Reality Star Girlfriend: ‘He Gutted Her Like An Animal’

Robert Reagan, a 53-year-old former Hugo Boss model, has been found guilty of second-degree murder. He’s been sentenced to 16 years to life in prison for the death of Loredana Nesci, a reality TV star and the subject of the show “Loredana, Esq.”

Reagan and Nesci were in a relationship and had one 5-year-old son together. The child was home during the murder. Reagan later called Nesci’s sister to pick him up in the five hours between the murder and when he called the police.

Reagan had been found guilty in August and was described by People as stoic by Deputy District Attorney Allyson Ostrowski: “When the jury left, he cried a little bit.”

“I think there was overwhelming evidence in the case and it was the right verdict,” said Ostrowski. “I am very grateful for the jury. I am glad she can rest in peace.”

Ostrowski noted that the couple were on the verge of breaking up

Star Of MTV Reality Show ‘Siesta Key’ Connected To Horrifying Shark Dragging Video

A reality show about rich, young people in an idyllic setting has been overshadowed by allegations of animal abuse. According to PeopleFlorida authorities have identified the suspects behind a horrifying shark dragging incident. Although the names have not been made public, it appears one of them is tied to the new MTV show “Siesta Key.”

Activists have connected one of the show’s stars, Alex Kompothecras (pictured center), to the incident. In the viral abuse video, a group of individuals is seen dragging a shark with their high-speed boat.

The series delves into the psychological showdown that takes place inside actual police interrogation rooms and dissects what happens to yield a confession.

The show is co-produced by Wolf’s Wolf Reality and Shed Media, with Wolf, Tom Thayer, Pam Healey, John Hesling and Adam Kassen serving as executive producers.

Q&A: ‘Cold Justice,’ reality TV vs. scripted TV

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: Could you please tell me if “Cold Justice” is going to return to TV soon? If not, what happened to the show?

A: The series, which originally ran on TNT, will return — but in a new location. Oxygen is revamping itself as “a crime destination network for women” beginning summer 2017, and its lineup will add new installments of “Cold Justice” in the fall.

And what about this change at Oxygen? The network has already been moving more into crime programming, including a “Crime Time” weekend block of programs, which is now part of the lineup Friday through Monday.

“The recent expansion of our ‘Crime Time’ weekend block has enjoyed double-digit gains and has really resonated with our female audience,” said a statement from Frances Berwick, president, Lifestyle Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. (Yes, that is the full

Um, Women Are Competing To Date Trey Songz In A New Reality Show

It looks like “Mr. Steal Your Girl” may need to change his name to “Mr. Lookin’ For Love.”

Tremaine “Trey Songz” Neverson now has his own VH1 reality dating show called Tremaine the Playboy, which follows 17 single women as they compete for the love, affection, and attention of a total stranger. The show, which features Draya Michele and Steelo Brim as co-hosts, will air exclusively as a web series on TremaineThePlayboy.com, though the launch date hasn’t been announced.

Judging by the exclusive sneak peek VH1 released earlier this week, viewers can expect the standard reality show drama that made Flavor of Love such a hit: grainy on-camera hook-ups, shady confessionals, and women shamelessly fighting over a guy on national TV. It also looks like it might be a parody? I kinda hope it is.

If this sounds like your kind of messiness, check out the trailer below.
