Trump’s Lawyer’s Baffling Defense: “President Cannot Obstruct Justice"

President Trump’s personal lawyer John Dowd continues to make controversial statements on the ongoing investigation into the current administration’s dealings with Russia. Dowd now claims that the President “is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution’s Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case” and therefore “cannot obstruct justice.” Dowd’s comments have been interpreted to mean that he believes Trump to — quite literally — be above the law (because he is the law).

The statement comes in the wake of a confusing tweet issued by President Trump in which he appears to admit knowledge of Michael Flynn’s lying to the FBI:

Village President In Michigan: “I Owe Nobody An Apology” For Sharing Facebook Post Calling To Kill All Muslims

A Kalkaska, Michigan village president said this week that he does not owe anyone an apology for what some are calling a series hateful social media posts, according to The Associated Press. Jeff Sieting, who has been the village president since 2010, made Facebook posts denouncing Islam and calling for the killing of “every last Muslim.”

His posts sparked a protest in the village and residents of Kalkaska called for his apology last month. Several are working to oust him from office. Sieting does have a  group of supporters who live in the rural area in Northern Michigan, according to the AP.

Sieting shared one anti-Muslim post, according to Michigan Live, entitled “Kill them all, every last one,” copied from a North Carolina group last November. That post calls muslims “dangerously destructive to society.” It compares Islam to a “flesh-eating bacteria.”

In a February Facebook post, he wrote:

Class President Read His Own Speech At Graduation, So The School Withheld His Diploma

A North Carolina teen was not given his high school diploma after he read his own speech at graduation, instead of one the school wrote for him.

As Southwest Edgecombe County High School’s senior class president, Marvin Wright was supposed to write a speech and read it aloud at graduation, according to WRAL. He said he worked hard to write a speech for the graduation ceremony. Wright claimed on the day of graduation, he was told by school administrators that he could not read his speech. Instead, he was told to read a speech written for him by the school.

“I felt robbed of a chance to say my own words,” Marvin told The Washington Post.

Wright, 18, chose to read his speech. Marvin’s mom, classmates and teachers urged him to read his prepared words. His speech can be read in full here. He praised his mom, God, and his classmates

What is covfefe? President Trump’s late night typo sparks criticism, laughter

It looks like the late-night Tweeter in Chief has struck again.

Around midnight Tuesday, President Donald Trump sent out a strange message that read “Despite the negative press covfefe.” Nothing else was added to the tweet, which remained on the president’s Twitter feed into the overnight hours, picking up more than 53,000 retweets and 65,000 “likes.”

#covfefe quickly shot to the top of the trending list on Twitter.

No explanation was given for the Tweet and no correction was immediately issued. The “covfefe” usage quickly became a sensation on social media, with even the Merriam-Webster dictionary joining in the definition fun.
