A man was arrested Monday for the brutal killing of a 12-year-old girl, who was murdered inside her own home, back in August.
CBS reports 45-year-old Roy D. Coons, the victim’s neighbor, was indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder, first-degree premeditated murder and attempted rape of a child and aggravated burglary charges.
Coons lived two doors away from Yhoana Arteaga, whose body was found inside her family’s mobile home in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Earlier in the day, the girl had lunch with her mother, reports CBS affiliate WTVF. Later, around 5:30 pm, she texted her mother that someone was knocking at the door. According to Fox17, Arteaga was home alone and was on crutches after being injured in a skating accident.
An hour later, Arteaga’s siblings and her mother found her body. Police said the girl’s clothing was in disarray and that she had suffered blunt force trauma.
