No, The Maura Murray Case Has Not Been ‘Reopened’

The Maura Murray missing person case has not been “reopened,” as an Oxygen Network show called “The Disappearance of Maura Murray” reported earlier this week, because according to New Hampshire officials, the case was never closed.

(Editor’s note: Since this story was first published, NBCUniversal emailed NHPR that Oxygen had revised its article. Click here for their revised post, which reflects that the case was never closed.)

Murray was a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on February 9, 2004 when she drove away from campus toward New Hampshire’s White Mountains. She was involved in a car accident in Woodsville, New Hampshire, where she briefly spoke to residents at the scene.

Medium Believes Maura Murray Died At The Hands Of A Potential Serial Killer: “She Wouldn’t Have Been The Only One"

On the most recent episode of “The Disappearance of Maura Murray,”  journalist Maggie Freleng and former U.S. Marshal Art Roderick spoke to medium Allison DuBois about the case. Allison said she knew absolutely nothing about Maura Murray or about any of the speculations surrounding her disappearance prior to her arrival in New Hampshire. Using just Maura’s name, photo and birthday, Allison gave her impression of Maura’s whereabouts.

“She wouldn’t stay away willingly,” DuBois told the investigators. “She wouldn’t not come back.”

Maggie asked her if she believes Maura is still alive.

“My sense is that she is not alive,” Allison said. “Normally she wouldn’t get into a car with somebody that she just met or that she didn’t know that well.”

She said she envisions Maura taking a ride from a man in a car. But, she thinks others were involved.

“If there was one person

Was Maura Murray Killed In The A-Frame House? | Crime Time

A possible explosive breakthrough in the Maura Murray case has been made. On the most recent episode of “The Disappearance of Maura Murray,” former U.S. Marshal Art Roderick and journalist Maggie Freleng concluded that in their opinion Maura Murray was probably murdered. John Smith, a former police officer and private investigator who has helped the Murray family for over a decade, offered Roderick and Freleng his leads on potential suspects.

Smith spoke about two individuals who lived in the area. One of them lived in house, located about a mile away from the accident scene.

“There were rumors out there that Maura was taken and brought to this [home] and was actually killed in the [house],” Smith said.

“Could he have picked Maura up and then murdered her only a mile from where she crashed?” she asked.

According to Fred Murray, one of the men told him he found a knife in the

First Officer To Arrive At Maura Murray’s Crash Site Debunks ‘Witness A”s Account

On the most recent episode of “The Disappearance of Maura Murray,” “Witness A” spoke on camera. For years, one eyewitness of the crash scene has kept her identity protected from the public for years.

“It didn’t feel like it would be safe for me to do that because obviously something bad happened,” Karen McNamara said. Now, she decided it would be safer to reveal her identity.

“But, they know who I am because I called and told them who I am so then I thought it would be safer if people knew who I am.”

By “they,” McNamara means the police.

“I feel it’s risky to say on camera but I don’t totally trust the police,” she said.

Why? Because she reported seeing a police SUV on the crash scene. The SUV was marked 001.

“They (police) asked me if I was sure it was 001. I

Here’s What Maura Murray’s Family Members Think Happened To Her

On February 9, 2004, the 21-year-old nursing student emailed her professors at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and her employer requesting time off after a death in her family. The death turned out to be made up. That night, she crashed her car into a tree in northern New Hampshire. A few witnesses called the police, and when they showed up, Maura was gone.

Last week, Oxygen.com published some of the most compelling theories of what might have happened to Maura. On the first episode of the “Disappearance of Maura Murray,” Maura’s own family members, who rarely speak to the media, talked about what they think happened.

MAURA’S SISTER

Maura’s older sister by two years, Julie, said that she was very close to Maura. She revealed on Saturday’s premiere of the show what she thinks might have happened.

“Something bad happened. Something went
