A 19-year-old pregnant mother was killed in the early morning on December 23 in an Arizona house while other people were sleeping, police said. The woman’s screams woke up her household at 4:30 AM in a house on the west side of Tuscon, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
Emergency responders arrived at the house to find Jasmine Vega unconscious and bleeding from gunshot wounds, apparently from a gun that shot through the house’s walls from outside.
“They called 911 and when officers arrived on-scene, they observed several projectile holes in the walls of the residence,” police said in a statement. “Additional evidence indicated that multiple shots were fired towards the residence from the exterior.”
Vega was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died shortly after arriving. Next of kin was notified, police said.
No one else was injured in the shooting, police said. Detectives aren’t sure if the shooting was random or

A woman who recently had a miscarriage earlier this year is accused of stabbing a mother to death and then kidnapping her 6-week-old daughter. Carolina Flores, 33, was found dead in her Houston apartment on Tuesday by family members. Her baby, Shamali, was missing.
Police almost immediately theorized that the culprit was a woman who had lost a child and wanted to try to pass Shamali off as her own baby, the Washington Post reported.
A day later, Erika Jisela Miranda-Alvarez, 28, was arrested and charged with capital murder for the death of Flores. Shamali was found alive and unharmed at Alvarez’s home, which she shared with her boyfriend.
Alvarez was an acquaintance of the victim. Police said she was due to give birth in January but suffered a miscarriage instead, according to ABC7. Police believe she has since faked a pregnancy. It is unclear if Alvarez has an attorney who

Connie Dabate was found dead, shot in the back of the head in the basement of the home she shared with her husband in 2015. Her husband, Richard Dabate, told authorities the crime involved a masked intruder, who he tried to overpower. But Connie’s Fitbit records told another story and helped incriminate her husband as the suspect for the crime. While he awaits his murder trial, Connie’s sister Marliese Shaw has filed a wrongful death suit against him.
As FoxNews shares, Shaw filed a claim on Nov. 22 against Richard Dabate. She is seeking unspecified monetary damages and has asked the court to return more than $70,000 she believes he took from his dead wife’s estate.
Back on December 23, 2015, Connie Dabate was found dead in her basement in Ellington, Connecticut. The husband told authorities that a masked intruder with a “Vin Diesel voice” chased Connie and killed her. He claimed he fought the

A mother from Buckeye, Arizona allegedly shot her 2-year-old son to death before trying to commit suicide with a knife. Alyssa Pettibone, 26, was arrested on Monday for the second-degree murder of her son Hudson Pettibone. Buckeye police spokeswoman Tamela Skaggs told Fox News that the toddler was shot once. Police in Virginia have released new disturbing details about the grisly death of a 22-year-old woman who was killed by her own dogs. On Monday, Sheriff Jim Agnew called a late night press conference to share evidence with reporters, after getting the go-ahead from the victim’s family.
Agnew showed reporters photographs from the scene, according to NBC12. The images were so disturbing that no publication or television station is showing them to the public. They reveal that the two pet pit bulls ate parts of 22-year-old Bethany Lynn Stephens’s body.
Police also witnessed the dogs eating her, while they discussed what to do with the dogs.
“While we were thinking about strategies to catch the dogs, we had turned and looked, the dogs had gone back over to the body,” says Sheriff Agnew. “And I observed, along with four other deputy sheriffs observed, the dog eating the rib cage on the body.

A woman from Goochland County, Virginia was found mauled to death after taking her two pit bulls for a walk in the woods. Police blamed her two pets, owned by Bethany Lynn Stephens.
Her father made the grim discovery on Thursday after he went looking for his 22-year-old daughter. He found the two dogs near Stephens’ body, which they appeared to be “guarding,” according to WTVR. At first, he thought maybe they were just guarding an animal carcass.
“Much to his horror, discovered that it was not,” Goochland County Sheriff Jim Agnew said at a press conference on Friday.
“It appeared the attack was a violent attack initiated by the victims’ dogs while the victim was out for a walk with the dogs,” Agnew said. “The victim had defensive wounds on her hands and arms trying to keep the dogs away from her, which would be consistent with being attacked

A young mother whose 3-year-old son froze to death outside in bone-chilling weather was sentenced for involunatary manslaughter. As WSOCTV reports, 24-year-old Jamie Basinger of North Carolina pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 245 days in jail.
Since she’s already served that, she may be able to get credit for time served and be free soon.
Authorities claim that the child, Landyn, froze to death on March 15—while the mom slept inside—after a passerby spotted him on the front porch. The temperature at the time was in the 20s. “I love my kid to death, and I would never do nothing to hurt him,” Basinger said.
Authorities share that she admitted to being on meth and marijuana prior to the incident, which apparently impaired her judgment and response. “She didn’t hear him. She didn’t hear him leave the room. Didn’t hear him leave the house. Didn’t

A handful of correctional officers are accused of mocking an inmate who died in a Carrabelle, Florida prison while begging for medical attention. The officers were responding to story published in the Miami Herald last week about an active lawsuit against corrections for the death of Randall Jordan-Aparo. They called the dead inmate a “b*tch” and other names on a private Facebook page dedicated to Florida corrections officers.
Jordan-Aparo, 27, allegedly spent four entire days begging for medical help. According to court records, medical staff dismissed his desire to take him to a hospital and instead gave him mere Tylenol pills for his ailments. According to the Miami Herald, he suffered from a rare genetic blood disorder, which was noted in his prison medical file.
When Jordan-Aparo disagreed with his treatment, he was allegedly put in an isolation cell where he was sprayed with a “chemical restraint agent.”
