An Arizona infant died after his father allegedly bent his body in half out of frustration while he was trying to get the baby to stop crying, Fox News reported.
Robert Anthony Resendiz, 30, called emergency services on December 19, claiming that he had just woken up to find that his son had stopped breathing. Police performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived, ABC 15 reported.
The boy was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where he died two days later on December 21.
Doctors told police that the 6-month-old boy had injuries that were “not survivable,” including lacerations in his liver and pancreas, a wrist fracture and pattern bruising on his thigh.
Resendiz allegedly told police that he found his son unresponsive and not breathing, but the boy’s mother said that when she went to work that morning, her son was awake and alert, Arizona Central reported.
