Brandon Kiehm, nicknamed the “Tinder Swindler” by the New York Post, has been sentenced to between two and six years of jail time after grifting tens of thousands of dollars from women on a dating app.
“Through a series of elaborate scams, Brandon Kiehm exploited dates and acquaintances, swiping tens of thousands of dollars left and right as he emptied victims’ wallets and accounts,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement.
Kiehm met three women on Tinder and told them variations on the same story: He needed money for a family member’s cancer treatments. He met the first woman on Tinder in 2015, tricking her out of $14,000. He said he would pay her back, later issuing her a bad check for $5,000.
