Scott Peterson Speaks Out For First Time Since Convicted Of Killing Wife: ‘I Had No Idea It Was Coming’

Scott Peterson is speaking out for the first time since being convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner, nearly 15 years ago.

“I, I was staggered by it. I had no idea it was coming,” he says about the guilty verdict. Peterson tells his story as part of a new special, “The Murder of Laci Peterson,” per People.

Peterson was conviction on first-and second-degree murder counts after his 27-year-old wife allegedly vanished near their home in Modesto, California on December 24, 2002. Authorities believed he killed Laci and Conner and dumped their bodies in the San Francisco Bay. Four months later, their bodies washed ashore. 

The Petersons were seemingly a picture-perfect couple and captivated the nation’s attention. As the trial unfolded, details emerged about Peterson’s affair with another woman.
