Gianni Versace’s Lover Slams ‘American Crime Story’ Portrayal Of The Designer’s Murder

Ryan Murphy’s anthology crime series “American Crime Story” is set to tackle the tale of Gianni Versace’s murder in an upcoming season. Audiences are eagerly anticipating the new show, but at least one person who was close to the actual killing isn’t happy with the way Murphy is depicting the events: Versace’s former lover, Antonio D’Amico.

D’Amico, who will be played by Ricky Martin in the show, is not pleased with what he’s seeing so far.

“The picture of Ricky Martin holding the body in his arms is ridiculous,” D’Amico told The Observer on Sunday. “Maybe it’s the director’s poetic license, but that is not how I reacted.”

D’Amico recalls the events differently: he says he had been drinking coffee on the porch of Versace’s mansion when he heard gunshots. “I felt as if my blood had turned to ice,” he said. Later, he and a butler found Versace’s body in a pool of blood
