Oxygen Is Launching Four New Original Series!

OXYGEN MEDIA EXPANDS PROGRAMMING SLATE WITH FOUR NEW ORIGINAL SERIES 

NEW YORK, NY – June 8, 2016 – Oxygen Media is giving the greenlight to four new original series; it was announced today by Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. New shows include the millennial focused competition series “Last Squad Standing” and “The Battle of the Ex Besties,” which test how far young women will go to protect their friendships. In addition, “Unprotected” is a docu-comedy featuring a family raising 2 teenagers under very different conditions —  in and out of the witness protection program. And as part of its “Crime Time” line-up – Oxygen’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday true-crime programming block – the network adds “Three Days to Live,” chronicling the critical 72 hours after someone is abducted.

Oxygen preps “Last Squad Standing,” “Ex Besties”

Oxygen Media is adding two friend competition series, a doc comedy from Propagate, and a true crime series to its millennial women-targeted slate.

Produced by Lighthearted Entertainment, Last Squad Standing sees three groups of friends living in the same space as they compete in competitive tasks that will show how close the friendships really are. When a team loses, they must choose someone within their group to be eliminated. Rob LaPlante, Jeff Spangler and Trish Gold are executive producers of the series.

Oxygen’s other friend-related offering, The Battle of the Ex Besties, tackles the other side of the coin – the ex-best friend. The moves come after the network ordered Strut, a new original series about fashion models working with Slay Model Management, which bills itself as the world’s first exclusively transgender modeling agency. That series, from exec producer Whoopi Goldberg and 44 Blue Productions, is scheduled to premiere this year.

Oxygen Picks Up Four New Series, Including Two Competition Shows

Oxygen has given the greenlight to four new projects — two competition series, a docu-comedy and a true crime show — the cable network announced Wednesday.

“Building upon our commitment to creating engaging, relatable content for millennial women, ‘Last Squad Standing,’ ‘The Battle of the Ex Besties,’ and ‘Unprotected,’ are sure to deliver fresh and compelling stories that will resonate with our fan base,” said Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “And the success of our ‘Crime Time’ line-up proved there is a real appetite for the genre, and we’re excited to serve our audience with more premium content in this space.”
