Dick Wolf First Responders Unscripted Series Set at Fox

Dick Wolf is expanding his TV empire with an unscripted series at Fox.

The network has ordered First Responders Live, which will follow firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel from around the country during a night on the job. Former Good Morning America anchor Josh Elliott will host the Live PD-esque show, which premieres June 12.

“I am thrilled to work with the legendary Dick Wolf on a show that will give viewers a unique look at the bravest and most courageous among us, as they jump into the fray to rescue and save lives,” said Rob Wade, president alternative entertainment and specials, Fox Entertainment. “With the success of our drama 911, viewers have a strong appetite for stories based in this world. Watching real first responders spring into action as they answer these calls will be a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat journey for viewers each week.”

FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) has expanded their unscripted team promoting Joni Day to SVP, alternative programming and development, it was announced today by Jayson Dinsmore, president of alternative programming and development. In addition, they have hired Colin Nash as SVP, of alternative programming and development and Jean Shi as vice president, alternative programming and development.

Joni Day has been with FremantleMedia for the past five years, overseeing development and production of reality competition, game show and other unscripted television programming. In her new SVP role at FMNA, she will focus on finding further global formats for broadcast to join the ranks of FMNA’s already widely popular programming, such as American Idol and America’s Got Talent.

Lifetime Taps Brie Miranda Bryant As SVP Unscripted Development …

Lifetime has hired BET Networks’ Brie Miranda Bryant as SVP Unscripted Development and Programming. Based in New York, Bryant will be responsible for development and oversee production of nonscripted projects for Lifetime, reporting to Liz Gateley, EVP, Head of Programming for the network. 

Bryant replaces Los Angeles-based SVP Unscripted Development Mariana Flynn, who has left the network.

Bryant comes to Lifetime after a little over a year at BET, where she was SVP Development and Production. It’s been a tumultuous past few of months at Viacom-owned BET with President of Programming Stephen Hill and EVP Head of Original Programming Zola Mashariki departing, and Mashariki, to whom Bryant reported, suing the network over her dismissal.
