Mom Turns In Teenage Son After He Lead Cops On Low-Speed Chase In Stolen City Bus

You can run from the cops, but not from your mom.

An Alabama teen led police on a chase down residential Birmingham streets in a stolen bus, slamming into two police cars during his gas-guzzling getaway. Hours later, his mom marched him to a precinct to turn himself in.

The trouble in the Magic City began at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when police responded to reports of people with guns in the neighborhood of Lakeview, and found the suspect and a fellow 15-year-old toting a BB gun and a paintball gun, Lt. Peter Williston of the Birmingham police told Oxygen.com.

Unable to contact family members of the kids, police took them to a juvenile detention facility to hold them. During intake, the speed-demon teen tore off from his minders around 6:30 a.m., and disappeared, police said.

About half an hour later, he jimmied his way into a bus belonging to the city’s Metro Area Express system,

Oxygen turns to a life of crime, rebrands itself as Crime Network

Ladies love cool crime—at least, that’s been the unofficial motto of nearly all women-targeting TV channels and programming in the 21st century. From the countless true-crime series riddling every channel courting female viewers to NBC deciding it would be cool to dub its evening of sex-crime drama “ladies’ night,” the crime beat is increasingly a key element of any xx-chromosome-centric TV. So much so, in fact, that we reported last year on how Law Order Svengali Dick Wolf was in talks to potentially transform the Oxygen channel in an all-crime affair. Now, Deadline reports, the change has come to pass, with Oxygen being rebranded as the Crime Network—and while Wolf won’t be running the show, he’ll be producing some of the flagship series for the newly lawbreaking channel. And if anybody gets smart with him, they’ll be taking a dirt nap, see?

Starting this summer, Oxygen
