Jupiter Promotes Steven McGovern to VP of Production – TVREAL

Jupiter Entertainment has upped seasoned producer Steven McGovern to the post of VP of production.

In his new position, McGovern will oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting and scheduling across all Jupiter projects. He will supervise a production slate of more than 250 hours of programming for 2018-19, which includes Snapped (Oxygen), Murder Chose Me (ID), Homicide Hunter (ID), Murder Calls (ID), Killer Couples (Oxygen) and Fatal Attraction (TV One).

Over the course of his career, McGovern has worked for such companies as Leopard USA, ITV Studios, Studio Lambert, Cineflix and RDF; and multiple networks and cable outlets, including ID, Oxygen, ABC, Reelz, CNBC, HGTV, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. He most recently served as the director of production at Jupiter.

McGovern will continue to work out of Jupiter’s New York City office and report directly to Robert Twilley, senior VP and general manager.

Exclusive: Jupiter Entertainment ups Steven McGovern to VP, production

Unscripted television producer Jupiter Entertainment has elevated veteran producer Steven McGovern to vice president of production.

In his expanded role, McGovern will manage daily operations, including budgeting and scheduling across all Jupiter projects. He currently oversees a production slate of programs that includes Oxygen’s Snapped and Killer Couples; Investigation Discovery’s Murder Chose Me, Homicide Hunter and Murder Calls; and TV One’s Fatal Attraction.

McGovern will continue to work out of the company’s New York offices and reports directly to Robert Twilley, SVP and GM of Jupiter. Previously, he was the prodco’s director of production.

McGovern has more than 20 years of experience in the television industry, having previously produced and managed production for hundreds of series, specials and pilots, including HGTV franchises House Hunters International and House Hunters Renovation.

Motion Filed To Get New Trial For ‘Making A Murderer’s’ Steven Avery

The attorney for Making A Murderer’s Steven Avery is requesting a new trial for the convicted murderer, filing a 1,272-page notice for post conviction relief in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

Avery is serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of freelance photographer Theresa Halbach. The 2015 Netflix documentary series Making A Murderer raised questions about the conviction, leading many to believe that Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who was also charged with the murder and is serving a life sentence, are innocent. The documentary suggested that police might have planted evidence on Avery’s property and that investigators took advantage of Dassey’s limited intellect to coax him into confessing. Avery previously served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen, before being fully exonerated in 2003 through DNA evidence.
