Alpena murder featured in docuseries | News, Sports, Jobs

On Monday night, it will be.

A 2001 Alpena crime will be featured on an episode of the Oxygen Network series “Killer Couples.” The episode, scheduled to air at 9 p.m. local time, depicts the October 2001 slaying of James Orban in a north Alpena home, which was destroyed by fire a few days later, an effort to hide evidence.

Retired detective Larry Thomson was the lead investigator on the case. He remembers well the emotional impact of working the murder, with its difficult details and interesting plot twists.

Melissa Bredow-Belanger, 21 at the time, worked for Orban, 69, a man she called her best friend — a man, Thomson said, who was giving her money for cleaning the house … and a lot of other things.

When Bredow-Belanger’s old lover, Jason Belanger, reentered her life, in need of drug money, she conspired with him to rob the older man, police said. That

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A man from Brilliant who was sentenced to life behind bars is being featured on a national TV show.

Oxygen’s Criminal Confessions features David Kinney, who was convicted of aggravated murder in February for the shooting of Brad McGarry at his Bellaire home in 2017. Detective Ryan Allar of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department was interviewed for the show and said that it was a positive experience.

“You see on TV that Hollywood types are rude. These people were very professional and you could tell that they care about what they do,” Allar said. “They made sure to be sensitive with certain subject matter, especially with the family. Overall, it was a pretty interesting experience.”

Allar said he could tell McGarry was loved deeply when talking to McGarry’s family. He said the show and detectives made sure to represent McGarry’s story in

Fox Sports Exec Jamie Horowitz Fired Following Sexual Harassment Investigation

The Fox News Network’s sexual harassment problems continue this week as sports executive Jamie Horowitz is let go from the network following investigations into his misconduct. The investigations began only a week ago.

According to the New York Times, Fox is not giving a specific comment on why Horowitz had been fired, but internal emails hint at the situation: “Everyone at Fox Sports, no matter what role we play, or what business, function or show we contribute to — should act with respect and adhere to professional conduct at all times,” Eric Shanks, the president of Fox Sports, said in an email to employees. “These values are non-negotiable.”
