“I really wants fans’ hearts to be warmed,” says Nikki DeLoach of her new Hallmark holiday movie, Reunited at Christmas, which follows her character Samantha’s bumpy journey back home.

Before Samantha’s beloved grandmother passed away, she organized a way to get everyone she loves together during the holidays to remind them about the “importance of family, love and second chances.”

This week: Queer Eye, The Profit, MDL:NY, Alone, and many other shows return this week

MDLYN, Steven Gold, Fredrik Eklund, Ryan Serhant

Summer has arrived, the days are long, I’m sweating, and reality television offers plenty of reasons to stay inside: almost 20 reality shows debut or return this week.

Let’s start with Gordon Ramsay, who ended his show Kitchen Nightmares four years ago but is now back with a show that sounds surprisingly similar: To Hell and Back (Fox, Wednesdays at 9), on which he tries to rescue restaurants in less than a day. I’ll have a review Wednesday.

Netflix’s successful and emotional reboot of  Queer Eye is out with its second season on Friday.

Alone (History, Thursdays at 10) returns for its first all-star season, with returning participants trying to outlast each other in Mongolia. Look for

Dad Crashes Into Restaurant On Purpose, Killing Daughter And Other Family, Police Say

A North Carolina man drove into a restaurant on purpose over the weekend, killing two family members, police say.

Roger Self sat his family down for a Sunday afternoon meal at a restaurant in Bessemer City and then went outside. He got in his jeep, police say, and rammed it right into the restaurant, killing his daughter and daughter-in-law, and injuring other family members in the chaos, according to The Gaston Gazette.

Self, a prominent 62-year-old businessman, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Sunday in the deaths of his daughter, Katelyn Self, a deputy in the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, and his daughter-in-law Amanda Self, a nurse.

Amanda Self’s husband, Josh Self, a police officer, and the couple’s 13-year-old daughter were also injured, as well as Roger Self’s wife. The family was all at church earlier in the day, the Gazette said.

Republicans Move To Give Colleges Ability To Bar Gay Relationships And Other Conservative Agenda Items

A higher education bill working its way through Congress is generating a lot of backlash for its conservative social agenda. As the New York Times reports, the 590-page bill, known as the PROSPER Act, features portions that would allow religious colleges from exerting their beliefs on the student body. Specifically, religious colleges could even bar same-sex relationships without repercussions.

David Stacy, who is the government affairs director of the Human Rights Campaign, criticizes the bill for its discrimination. He notes that its rules would expand to even larger colleges, like Notre Dame, who are religiously-affiliated but attract a diverse student base. “You’re not just talking about a little Bible college,” he said. “When you think about Catholic universities, there are a lot of those, and quite a few of these universities would discriminate against same-sex student relationships.”

On the other end of the spectrum, conservatives defend the bill as reflecting their
