Michigan State To Pay $500 Million To Women And Girls Abused By Larry Nassar

Sexual abuse victims of disgraced gymnastics Dr. Larry Nassar and Michigan State University have reached a settlement in principle in which the university will pay $500 million, attorneys for both sides said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

Under the settlement, $425 million will be paid to the 332 victims represented in current litigation, while the university will set aside another $75 million in a trust fund which could go to future plaintiffs who allege they were abused by Nassar, the attorneys said.

“This historic settlement came about through the bravery of more than 300 women and girls who had the courage to stand up and refuse to be silenced,” plaintiffs’ attorney John Manly said.

“Michigan State is pleased that we have been able to agree in principle on a settlement that is fair to the survivors of Nassar’s crimes,” said Robert Young, special counsel to the university.

Michigan Man Fathered A Child With His 20-Year-Old Daughter, Police Say

It’s complicated all right.

A Michigan man is accused of sexually abusing his daughter — and fathering a son with her. Just weeks ago, he changed his Facebook relationship status to, “In a Complicated Relationship.”

Gregory St. Andre, 37, is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual assault, according to The Detroit News. St. Andre posted an initial bond of $5,000, but his bond was raised to $60,000 during a court appearance Monday.

Prosecutors asked a judge to revoke St. Andre’s bond completely because his family said a no-contact order against him was useless. They said he’d been calling his daughter and her boyfriend and messaging them through social media. St. Andre changed his Facebook relationship status to “complicated” April 28, drawing dozens of disgusted comments from users.

Prosecutors filed an emergency motion Monday to revoke his bond, according to WJBK Fox 2 in Detroit.

“She has a son by the defendant. What is she

Police Say Ex-Michigan State Dean Had Video Of Larry Nassar Abusing Patient On His Computer

An alleged video of disgraced USA Gymnastics Larry Nassar was found on his former boss’ computer as he was being arrested in connection with his own alleged sexual misconduct. Nassar’s ex-boss and former dean at Michigan State University William Strampel once said he didn’t believe the allegations against Nassar.

According to a police affidavit, obtained by MLive in Michigan, on Strampel’s computer was a video of “Dr. Larry Nassar performing ‘treatment’ on a young female patient.”

Additionally, Strampel is accused of sexual abuse himself. Police accuse him of sexually abusing female medical students. On his computer, police allegedly found “approximately 50 photos of bare vaginas, nude and semi-nude women, sex toys and pornography.”

Strampel was Nassar’s boss and back in 2016 he stated he didn’t believe the allegations against Nassar, the Wall Street Journal reported. He announced a leave of absence for medical reasons in December.

Earlier this year, former USA Gymnastics physician Nassar was

Protestors And Alt-Right Fight At Richard Spencer’s Michigan State University Event

At a public speech given by alt-right figurehead Richard Spencer, the antagonism between anti-fascist activists and neo-Nazi organizations resulted in physical violence.

Hundreds marched towards the Michigan State University venue chanting “Nazis go home!” to counter the message of Spencer, a white supremacist figurehead most famous for going viral after being physically assaulted on President Trump’s inauguration day.

White nationalists marching toward the Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education, where the event was scheduled to take place, were blocked by protestors, according to The Washington Post. As shouting between the rival factions escalated, punches were thrown. Police quickly began arresting people.

But the situation escalated again as more attendees showed up to the speech, which at that point had been delayed. Police protected the white nationalists and helped them to enter the building.

Capt. Doug Monette, a spokesman for the MSU police department, said that over two dozen were arrested during the skirmishes. Some

Police Confirm 4 Michigan Highway Shootings Are Connected

Michigan police say they have now established a link between four seperate shootings that occurred on I-94 and I-96 near Detroit last week. A Michigan State Police spokesperson now says that the “four shootings are one single incident.”

According to The Huffington Post, a Southfield woman’s vehicle was struck by a bullet on December 7 while driving on I-94. On Monday, the highway was closed by police as they looked for evidence. It’s unclear if anything was discovered.

The other shootings also occurred on December 7 in the early morning. Only one person was injured after a bullet struck his leg. The driver said he was heading westbound when a car pulled up near him and opened fire. Other cars were struck by bullets reportedly coming from a silver Impala. There is no known relation between the victims. No other shootings occurred following the incidents on the 7th.

3 Michigan Children Still Missing 7 Years After Their Dad ‘Gave Them To A Group’

Three brothers have been missing from the town of Morenci, Michigan since 2010. Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton vanished from their home seven years ago, the day after Thanksgiving, according to Click On Detroit. Andrew was 9 years old, Alexander was 7 and Tanner was 5 at the time of their disappearance. The National Center for Missing Children has created age-progressed photos of what the brothers could possibly look like now.

The boys’ mother, Tanya Skelton, told Morenci police that her husband John Skelton had the children last. He was supposed to bring the boys back home to her. John’s original story was that he gave his three sons to “a group.” No group has ever come forward. It is unclear what kind of group he meant. Since then, his story has allegedly changed. John is currently in prison, serving 10 to 15 years, on an unlawful imprisonment charge, according

A Black Man Is At The Center Of Anti-Black Graffiti Scandal On Eastern Michigan University Campus

Eddie Curlin, a former student at Eastern Michigan University, has been charged with malicious destruction of property, identity theft and using computers to commit a crime after being arrested for a series of vandalism incidents on the school’s campus. The case is particularly curious considering Curlin, a black man, had scrawled a series of white supremecist messages on his spree.

According to The Washington Post, anti-black messages began appearing around the school in September of last year. More messages telling black students to leave the school appeared around Halloween. And even more began appearing a few months after that. The incident sparked protests and outrage throughout the country.

“It really has rocked our community,” said Judith Kullberg, an EMU political scientist and president of the faculty senate. “In this whole context of a very tense presidential election it has raised anxiety here considerably.”

Many were confused when it was announced that Curlin was

Police Give Update On Hunt For Missing Michigan Woman Danielle Stislicki

Sadly, a search in Hines Park, Michigan by law enforcement on Wednesday didn’t turn up anything related to the disappearance of Danielle Stislicki.

The search concluded at 3 p.m after 155 police, firefights, FBI, and anthropologists combed the area.

Stislicki, 28, has been missing since December, the Oakland Press reports. Police believe she is dead, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The park search was prompted after a man was arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap and assault a woman in Hines Park. Floyd Galloway, 30, was interviewed by police in connection with the disappearance of Stislicki. They knew each other through his former job as a security officer.

Police said other searches will be conducted until they find something. They reminded the public to be alert for bags, containers, suitcases, trunks and bedding. They said to especially be on the lookout for a tan-and brown-striped comforter. Stislicki was last seen wearing a three-in-one
