Jodi Arias, who is currently serving a lifetime prison sentence in Arizona for killing her boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008, wants to request supervised leave in order to attend her father’s funeral, according to a relative.
“She’s really upset,” the relative reportedly told People magazine. “It’s hard for her to know that he’s really gone. She wants to see her family and pay her respects.”
The father of the 37-year-old convict, William Arias, died on September 19 at the age of 69 in California.
However, his memorial service may be held in California, not Arizona, where Arias is currently confined. Though Arizona law allows for inmates to have escorted leave for open casket funerals within the state, out-of-state funeral visits are not allowed.
“She wants to go, but it seems impossible now,” the relative told People. “The logistics just don’t work out. And yes, it’s sad for her, but it can’t be the
A teen in Stockton, California was arrested in July for allegedly driving under the influence and causing a crash that killed her sister. Obdulia Sanchez, 18, live-streamed the crash on Instagram, which showed her beside her dead 14-year-old sister Jacqueline Sanchez. Jacqueline’s girlfriend was injured in the crash.
In the recording, Obdulia is seen singing along to music before the accident. The video then goes blurry as the car crashes. The sound of metal scratching can be heard.
California Highway Patrol officials reported that Sanchez was under the influence and that she rolled her car over, hitting a barbed-wire fence.
Right after the crash, Sanchez shot video of her next to her lifeless sister, stating, “Jacqueline, please wake up. I f***ing killed my sister, OK? I know I’m going to jail for life.” She continued to live-stream, as her sister’s girlfriend attempted to wave down cars for help, “I love my sister…
It was a chaotic scene at a funeral viewing in Ohio on Monday after the deceased man’s girlfriend showed up.
The New York Daily News reported that Nicole Corbitt walked into the service revealing herself to be the mistress of the man who had recently passed away. The widow, Jacqueline Finley, became visibly upset, WEDN reported. She told the girlfriend to leave. An argument erupted and Corbitt allegedly punched Finley’s daughter, Shyla Cooks, in the face. Finley told officers that the attack was “unprovoked.”
From there, a brawl broke out and Finley, her daughter, Corbitt and other women began to fight.
Funeral home employees tried to break up the fight with no success. It all finally ended when Finley pepper sprayed the group of women.
Nobody was seriously injured. No arrests have been made.
The Daily Mail reported that the man whose death was being mourned was 70 years old.
A Florida family was hit with tragedy again when the mother died of infection after giving birth to twins—the same day as her boyfriend’s funeral. According to the Palm Beach Post, 27-year-old Stephanie Caceres died Wednesday from an infection caused by the C-section she underwent 12 days prior. The twins’ father, Jevaughn Suckoo, died in a shooting on July 11.
Twins, Jevaughn Jr. and Lailah, and the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Kailanie, have been left as orphans. The pediatric office where Caceres worked is collecting money to help the children.
Per the Palm Beach Post, 26-year-old Suckoo (pictured below) was fatally shot outside of his gated apartment complex. Authorities ruled the death a homicide. “We’re going to find him. We’re going to catch him,” the victim’s father, Dwight Suckoo, said about the culprits. “You can be assured that we will find out who did it.”
A Tulsa, Oklahoma woman was sentenced to 16 years in prison Thursday for mutilating the corpse of her love rival during a funeral home viewing in 2015.
According to Tulsa World, Shaynna Lauren Sims, 28, cut off the breasts and a toe from the body of 38-year-old Tabatha Lynch while the body was in a casket. According to NBC affiliate KFOR, Sims also slashed Lynch’s face with a pocket knife, cut her hair, and smudged her makeup. She mutilated the corpse right before a scheduled funeral.
Sims will serve 7 years for first-degree burglary, 5 years for unlawfully removing a body part from a deceased person, 2 years for unknowingly concealing stolen property, and one year each for unauthorized dissection and disrupting or interrupting a funeral. The judge, who granted the state’s request to have the sentences served consecutively, also ruled Sims must pay fines totalling $6,500.
Family and friends of comedian Ricky Harris gathered in Long Beach, California yesterday to pay their respects at his funeral; unfortunately, it looks like the ceremony may have been disturbed by some serious drama, TMZreports.
Sherri Shepherd posted a distraught Instagram video while at the funeral, saying that someone came at Snoop Dogg and a fight broke out after Snoop’s bodyguard had to intervene.
“We’re at Ricky Harris’ funeral, and we’re about to go see the body, and somebody came in the funeral home and went towards Snoop, and Snoop’s bodyguard tackled him,” she said in a Periscope video. “And it was just a big fight. And it was so disrespectful to Ricky Harris. I cannot believe this.”
I can’t believe you’re complaining about inappropriateness at a funeral while live-streaming a fight at a funeral, but who asked me? Anyway. All may not be as it seems because Snoop Dogg posted
