Anti-abortion extremist Shelley Johnson, who never apologized for shooting a doctor and fireboming several abortion clinics, has been released from federal prison, sparking fears from pro-choice groups that she could continue promoting violence.
Rachelle “Shelley” Shannon left the Waseca Federal Correctional Facility in Minnesota on Monday. She was transported to a halfway house in Portland, Oregon, where she will reside for several months before a final release, according to The Kansas City Star in Missouri.
Shannon had been sentenced to 11 years in prison after shooting and wounding George Tiller, an abortion doctor and outspoken pro-choice advocate, in 1993. She was arrested several hours after the shooting. After being booked, police discovered a letter written to her daughter that detailed the crime.
“I’m not denying I shot Tiller,” she wrote. “But I deny that it was wrong. It was the most holy, most righteous thing I’ve ever done. I have no regrets.”

A Philadelphia man picked up his 11-year-old daughter from the bus stop for the very first time this week, after spending most of her young life in prison for a murder he didn’t commit.
Dontia Patterson was freed Wednesday after the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office admitted to bungling the 2007 shooting investigation of Patterson’s friend Antwine Jackson. A judge exonerated him and released him from the house arrest he had been under since March, CBS News reported. He spent 11 years behind bars.
In an “egregious example” of misconduct, police and prosecutors concealed evidence that would’ve likely kept Patterson, 29, out of prison, according to a court motion filed by the district attorney’s office and obtained by Oxygen.com.
Jackson was murdered on a street corner near Patterson’s home. At the time, Patterson rushed outside to be by his friend’s side.
Police and bystanders found him there crying out over his friend’s death. This

Ohio teenager Bresha Meadows shot and killed her father after allegedly facing over a decade of abuse at his hands. The court case, in which it was decided that Meadows would not be tried as an adult, garnered national intrigue and opened up conversations about child abuse, self defense, and racial and gender biases in the justice system. After being sentenced to months of confinement in a mental health facility, Meadows will be freed this Sunday, according to Jezebel.
In the summer of 2016, Bresha had shot her father Jonathan Meadows in the head with his own .45 caliber handgun as he slept. Brandi Meadows, Bresha’s mother, later said that the two had faced considerable physical abuse from Jonathan and that Bresha had fought back after years. Brandi hailed her daughter as a hero.
“In the 17 years of our marriage he has cut me, broke my ribs, fingers, the blood vessels in my
