Oxygen Ups Stephanie Steele To SVP Production & Development

Stephanie Steele is expanding her responsibilities at Oxygen Media with a promotion to Senior Vice President Production and Development from her previous VP role.

In her new position, Steele is charged with overseeing the network’s true-crime programming slate including the second season of Dick Wolf’s Criminal Confessions and top-rated Unspeakable Crime: The Killing of Jessica Chambers. Steele is based in Los Angeles and reports to Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development.

Steele recently launched several of the network’s high rated documentary specials including Aaron Hernandez Uncovered, Dahmer on Dahmer and The Turpin 13: Family Secrets Exposed.

44 Blue Productions taps Dan Snook as SVP, development

Indie prodco 44 Blue Productions has tapped television exec Dan Snook as senior vice-president of development.

Snook will work with the development team on the creation and sale of new ideas across cable, broadcast, syndication and digital platforms as the company looks to expand its slate into new genres.

The exec comes to 44 Blue from Warner Bros./Shed Media where he was SVP, development. In that role, Snook oversaw Shed’s multi-genre slate, developing and selling shows such as Lifetime’s Child Genius and Glam Masters; Oxygen’s Criminal Confessions; NBC’s First Dates and Genius Junior, and content for VH1, Discovery, E! and more.

Before joining Shed, Snook served as SVP of development at UK indie Firecracker Films, shepherding the company’s U.S. strategy, generating original IP and helping in the sale of Firecracker to Tinopolis.

He started his career at 3Ball as a development producer

Oxygen Media, the network for high-quality crime programming, is expanding its development slate with four new buzzworthy projects.  New series in development include “Up and Vanished,” based on the wildly popular podcast by the same name from Payne Lindsey, “Buzzfeed: Behind the Crime” following true-crime devotee Kelsey Darragh as she investigates unsolved mysteries, “License to Kill” with Dr. Terry Dubrow (“Botched”) examining cases of doctors who have gone over the edge and “Unhinged, hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Troy Roberts and Emmy nominated reporter Stephanie Bauer as they immerse themselves into the nation’s most twisted and suspenseful cases.

Oxygen Adds More Crime Series to Development Slate

Oxygen, which has turned into a crime-programming focused cable network, says it has four new projects in the genre in development.

One series comes from Buzzfeed motion pictures, with the working title of Buzzfeed: Behind the Crime. Another is based on the Up and Vanished podcast.

“Fans of the crime genre have really responded to the new Oxygen,” said Cori Abraham, Oxygen‘s senior VP, development and international. “We’re attracting some of the biggest producers and talent in this space, and we’re looking forward to unveiling our 2018 slate.”

With its new orientation toward crime programming, including series from Law Order’s Dick Wolf, Oxygen says viewership among total viewers in total day is up 53% year over year.
