It took a 400-pound pig to tip off cops that an animal rescue home in rural Minnesota had a sick secret: Most of its animals were dead.
Deputies from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Minnesota Animal Center in Farmington Wednesday responding to a call about a hog on the loose, running around a yard.
When they arrived at the single-family home that houses the center, they found more than 60 cats and a rabbit were stuffed in a freezer.
“It’s about as bad as you can get,” Keith Streff, a Humane Society investigator, said at a news conference. “It’s a catastrophic environment.”
He said that the sheriff’s office issued a search warrant, and that the Humane Society rescued more than 40 cats and five dogs. An investigation into the center is ongoing.
Caycee Bregel, who leases the property and operates the animal rescue, was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, according to WCCO in Minneapolis.

A mom in Pasco, Washington, is fuming that a day care worker allegedly waxed her toddler’s eyebrows. According to Q13 Fox, Alyssa Salgado says that an employee at the day care run by Boys Girls Club of Benton and Franklin counties waxed her 2-year-old daughter’s eyebrows on Thursday.
“I take my daughter to the CBC Daycare to be cared for while I’m at school trying to focus on graduating!” the 19-year-old mom, who dropped her daughter off so she could attend high school, shared in a Facebook post. “Then I go pick up my daughter yesterday and saw a red mark in between her eye brows I think it’s a scratch but as soon as a get home I get a closer look these WOMEN decided to WAX MY DAUGHTERS uni brow.”

Eddie Curlin, a former student at Eastern Michigan University, has been charged with malicious destruction of property, identity theft and using computers to commit a crime after being arrested for a series of vandalism incidents on the school’s campus. The case is particularly curious considering Curlin, a black man, had scrawled a series of white supremecist messages on his spree.
According to The Washington Post, anti-black messages began appearing around the school in September of last year. More messages telling black students to leave the school appeared around Halloween. And even more began appearing a few months after that. The incident sparked protests and outrage throughout the country.
“It really has rocked our community,” said Judith Kullberg, an EMU political scientist and president of the faculty senate. “In this whole context of a very tense presidential election it has raised anxiety here considerably.”
Many were confused when it was announced that Curlin was
