Man who had sex with daughter – then married her – gets 2 years in pri


A Nebraska man who authorities said had sex with his daughter, and later married her, has been sentenced to serve two years in prison.

Travis Eugene Fieldgrove, 40, of St. Paul, was granted credit for having already served 121 days in the Hall County Jail, The Omaha World-Herald reported. Fieldgrove was also ordered to serve 12 months of post-release supervised probation. 

During that time, he is to have no contact with his daughter, 21-year-old Samantha Kershner, the World-Herald reported

Stepmother beats 26-year-old son with belt for being late, said he nev


A Florida woman is facing charges after beating her 26-year-old stepson with a belt for being late, according to news reports.

Largo police arrested Valerie Branch-Galloway Monday on domestic battery charges, according to WPLG-TV.

The incident apparently occurred after the victim, who lives with Branch-Galloway and his father, missed his midnight curfew.

Circus promoters starved 12-year-old son, chained him in bathtub befor


A 12-year-old boy who weighed less than 55 pounds when he died at an Indiana hospital last week was restrained in a motel bathtub and shocked with a dog’s “shock collar” as punishment prior to his death, according to authorities. 

Eduardo Posso was pronounced dead early Friday morning at Bloomington Hospital, where Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain said the boy had been taken, unresponsive, by his father and stepmother. Doctors at the hospital found signs of long-term abuse and starvation in the boy, Swain said

Happy birthday: Gladys Knight turns 75

The Empress of Soul Gladys Knight turned 75 Tuesday.

Born in Atlanta on May 28, 1944, Knight made her solo debut at age 4, singing at the Mount Mariah Baptist Church. She started singing with her siblings at age 8, calling themselves the Pips.

The rest is history.

Florida girl bit by pygmy rattlesnake while walking at park


An 11-year-old Florida girl is on her way to recovery after being bitten on the foot by a venomous snake during a holiday weekend camping trip.

Kelly Bajek said her family was camping at Blue Spring State Park walking along a trail, when the snake bit her daughter on the foot. 

Mom snapped a picture of a small pygmy rattlesnake slithering away from her daughter as they called 911.

The daughter, Abigail, was taken Orlando-area children’s hospital in intensive care, where the family said she was on her fourth treatment of anti-venom.

She is swollen but recovering and doing well.

The state Supreme Court will hear the appeal next month of a Bremerton woman serving life in prison after being convicted of setting a 2014 fire at her twin sister’s house that killed her longtime boyfriend.

Shelly M. Arndt, 49, was convicted by a Kitsap County Superior Court jury of aggravated first-degree murder for the Feb. 23, 2014, death of Darcy E. Veeder Jr., 37.

The couple had gone to Arndt’s twin sister’s house in East Bremerton to socialize and do housework. During the night, as family and friends slept, Arndt is alleged to have started a fire in the downstairs floor of the house, which then spread. Investigators testified they believe Arndt set fire to a beanbag chair.
