Local author hopes to make a killing with latest work

GREENFIELD — This winter, a Greenfield author’s most recent work features a Christmas-themed take on the classic hard-boiled detective story.

Former Indianapolis Public Schools teacher and Greenfield author Jon Burroughs contributed to the short-story anthology,“Homicide for the Holidays,” a collection of noir-style mystery stories published by the Speed City Chapter of Sisters in Crime. The book is available for purchase at the Indianapolis Barnes and Noble bookstore.

Burroughs has been involved several years with the Sisters in Crime Chapter, a group of local authors who meet monthly to discuss and critique each others’ work, for several years, said the group’s president, Brigitte Kephart. Burroughs also played a key role in providing content to a play the organization put on for Indy Fringe earlier this summer called DEADBEAT, she said.

“Jon takes a fairly active part in contributing to our local Sisters in Crime chapter,” Kephart said. “We appreciate having him on board.”
